Showtimes is amazing now! When Apple fixed their stupid firmware problems, Showtimes was finally able to perform up to its potential. It is way better than Now Playing (which was formerly Box Office, not Admit One) and Movies. This article explains it better than me: http://www.brighthub.com/mobile/iphone/reviews/5290.aspx

Thanks for another set of helpful observations. Do you have any thoughts on why Apple has, so far, not taken the one small step that would make the iPhone (or iPod Touch) even more compelling as a nearly stand-alone new platform: enabling access to a bluetooth folding keyboard? Excellent, highly portable keyboards have been available for several years. They made my old Treo 650 and then my Blackberry into far more versatile instruments, as they could now do for the iPhone. I hope that you and others will join in trying to convince Apple to take this easy, small step. Thanks.

I forgot to point out that, when looking up movies by title on ADMIT ONE, it also provides the names of local theaters where the movie is playing. If you want to go to a specific theater, you can look up the theaters and see what's playing when; if you want to see a specific movie, you can look up the movie and then see where it's playing.

Very convenient!

Funny, I just deleted SHOWTIMES from my iPhone and from my computer, as I found it problematic to use: sometimes it would bring up a list of local theaters, after several minutes of waiting, but just as often--also after several minutes of waiting--it would give me a message that it could not connect to the server and did I want to retry?

Much better in performance and features is ADMIT ONE, (formerly BOX OFFICE), which, like SHOWTIMES, give one a list of local theaters with their movies and showtimes, but it also can provide just a list of currently playing movies, plus capsule reviews. Most important, it brings up the requested information very quickly, after very little wait.

SHOWTIMES was always unreliable, so I had to jettison it. There's no need for TWO movie showtime apps.

Q: I live outside of the US and Canada, can I use Jott?
A: You can only register for Jott with a US or Canadian telephone number.

So it's a no go for those of us in the UK :(
