Well im very glad because i upgraded from my sidekick LX to the new black iphone 3G. its very cool and i was able to activate it and i was able to upgrade my ipod touches software to 2.0. and successfully add a application on to both my products. i recommend this and try looking in other stores that might help you or call a store.

ATT&T are jerks. Have four iphones on family plan. I went in to buy two of the new ones as I am the contract holder. They would only order one unless I brought another family member to the store. I have decided to not buy until AT&T is out of my picture. Maybe I will be near an Apple store or they will sell at Apple Online soon. It was so simple last year. There must be a better way to stop the cheaters other than by making the good guys jump through hoops.

Hello:

Keep trying, the error -4 means the system is backed up. It took me a while but iTunes finally did its thing.

Also, if updating an old iPhone to firmware 2.0, you will most likely run into the error -4 again. At this point you risk being without any cell phone for a few hours, which is the amount of time it took me to get over the error -4 message. This error takes place after installing the software and prior to (re)activating your old iPhone. So you might want to wait.

Hi Ted

It was just the same in the UK, I arrived at the store 15 minutes before you at 6am and was 5th in line. At 7.45 the o2 staff appeared and told us they had 6x16GB and 20x8GB. Like you I wanted to upgrade from the iPhone to the iPhone 3G and wanted the 16GB. At 8.02 I went inside and didn't escape until 9.35am!!! The o2 systems just couldn't cope and when the store reps tried calling o2 they found that the phone system had been replaced with a 'due to problems we are unable to take your call please try later'.

Where our stories differ is when I got home it was authorise the immediately and it was up and running within a few minutes.

If only the switch to my .me account was as easy....don't even get me started on that one!!!

Enjoy the speed of 3G when you eventually get hooked up.
